Each year during the week over Memorial Day, this inspiring and memorable display draws together residents of Burlington County to honor the heroes who have touched our lives and served our community and our nation.

Medford Sunrise held the county’s first Field of Honor® over Memorial Day week, 2019.

Hundreds of people have since sponsored a flag in the name of a person whom they nominated as having exhibited Service Above Self. Arranged in perfectly symmetrical rows, each full-sized American flag is sponsored by a resident, business or Rotary club in honor of a hometown hero: perhaps a family member who gave their life in service to our nation; perhaps a first responder who saves lives and touches our community every day; maybe a beloved family member or friend who currently wears a uniform to keep our nation safe or honoring people who demonstrate Service Above Self by touching the lives of others.

The Burlington County Field of Honor attracts hundreds of visitors and wide-ranging TV, press and social media coverage.

“The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation”

– George Washington

On Friday, May 24, 2024, Rotarians and community volunteers will erect over 350 full-size American flags on 7 1/2 foot flag poles in Freedom Park—in perfectly symmetrical rows. Medallions will be placed on flags with details of the nominated “heroes.” The Field of Honor® will remain for a full week, from May 25 through June 2, 2024.

All proceeds will be donated by Medford Sunrise to organizations that serve veterans and current military personnel, the Rotary Peace Centers and deserving local charities.

Our Flags will honor all Active-Duty Military, Fallen Servicemen and Women, First Responders, humanitarian, Hometown heroes and COVID 19 Victims.

Corporate sponsors will be given significant exposure for their generous support of The Burlington Field of Honor® display, along with several flags which will also fly naming heroes of their choice.
